Obituary
Willie Dunton Jackson
Family is Life and the family of Willie Jackson gathered on both sides of the gate to walk the father home. Surrounded by the love of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Willie Jackson closed his eyes on this life Saturday, January 9, 2016. The Patriarch passes.

Willie Dunton Jackson, born January 17, 1926 to William Herman and Annie Rachel Dunton Jackson at Mount Vernon, Missouri, Lawrence County, graduated early, May 14, 1943, from Mount Vernon High School, to marry Mary Lorene Kenney at Baptist Hill Assembly June 29th of the same year. His love and commitment to this special woman never wavered, and he sacrificed his own desires to serve the family they established together.

He joined the Navy Reserve April 17, 1944 at Kansas City, Missouri, but when medical issues prevented him from continuing, he turned to other options to serve the nation he so loved. Deeply committed to his Lord, he wanted to preach the good news of salvation, but on the birth of his first child in 1946, he lay aside that desire and turned to trucking to earn a living for his family. He drove trucks for the lead and zinc mines at Stotts City, Missouri. He hauled milk, bread, and produce to feed the nation, and explosives for war. From companies such as Tri-State, Lee Way, Yellow Transport, and Roadway, he won 21 years of awards for safe driving. He achieved his Million Mile pin with Lee Way Transport, where he rose from a position on the extra board to lead driver. He lived a life on the road to provide for his wife and three children.

When he retired from over-the-road driving, he continued to serve by volunteering with the Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief team, driving the food trucks and working with his wife Mary to bring relief to those afflicted by disasters such as Hurricane Andrew. They both demonstrated their love of God by dedicating themselves to helping those in need. He donated generously to his church, the Baptist Boys Ranch, Boys Town, and Native American reservation relief. He never preached a sermon, but his life was a testimony of Christian service.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Lorene Kenney Jackson; his father, William Herman Jackson; mother, Annie Rachel Dunton Jackson; and brothers, Norman Joe and Herman Dale Jackson.

He was rich in family and is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: daughter, Mary Lynn Jackson Haney, husband Ralph James Haney; daughter, Caroline Sue Jackson Barrow, husband James Douglas “Doug” Barrow; son, William Herman Jackson, wife Linnea Maria Springer Jackson; three grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He leaves a legacy of love, sacrifice, and service that lights the path for all of us.
