Charles P. Preston Dead. Charles P. Preston, secretary of the court house commission, died suddenly yesterday (22 Jul) at his summer home at Meadville, Lake Minnetonka (Minn.). Death was due to appendicitis. Mr. Preston was in fair health last Friday and attended to his work. It was learned Saturday that he was not feeling well, and when the announcement of his death was made yesterday it was a great surprise and shock to his friends. It has ben learned that he suffered a great deal from the heat of last week, and upon arriving at the lake Friday night told his wife that head been nearly prostrated. He did not come the city Saturday. His trouble took an alarming turn Sunday, when he was seized with cramps and a violent nausea.

The Minneapolis Journal, Wed. 24 Jul 1901, Minneapolis, Minn: The Preston Funeral - Held this morning from Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral services over the remains of the late Charles P. Preston were conducted this morning (24 Jul) at Immaculate Conception Church. Mass was celebrated by Rev. Father J. J. Duffy, of Immaculate Conception and there was a funeral service by Father Daneky, of St. Stephens' parish. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery. The service opened at 9:30 with music by the full choir. The casket had been opened an hour previous, to give friends an opportunity for a final view.
