Mervin D. Wells, 79, of Dexter, died July 2, 1995, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center after surgery. Services were held July 5, 1995, at the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter.

Mr. Wells was born on June 5, 1916, to George A. and Olga Jensen Wells near Winterset. Mr. Wells attended Dexter Public Schools. On June 28, 1942, he married Betty E. Neal.

Mr. Wells farmed in the Dexter area for a number of years and remained active there until his death. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and belonged to the First Presbyterian Church and the Dexter American Legion, Post, which also held graveside services.

Mr. Wells is survived by his wife of Dexter; his children, Vince, of Dexter, and Patty McKee of Omaha, Nebraska; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gerald, Russell and Glenn; and one sister, Dorothy Lanning.
