Arthur Walker was born in 1790 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. He married Jean Harvey around 1820. Five of their children, James, Jean, Arthur Jr., John and Alexander, were born in Aberdeenshire. Shortly after the birth of Alexander in the latter part of 1835 along with his brother Alexander, Arthur and his wife Jean and their five children emigrated to Canada and settled in Fergus, Wellington County, Ontario where their last child, George Gray Walker was born. Arthur remained on this same farm until the of October 1866, at which time he died from an ilness that had overtaken him the preceding Christmas. He was buired in Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus, Ontario. There is some confusion as to the date of his death. A cemetery transcription says he died on the 12th of October. The obituary published on Friday the 19th of October states that he died the previous Tuesday, which would have been the 16th of October. Perhaps one day a photo of the stone will clear up the differences.
