Gilbert A., 96, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 21, 1919, in Louisville, a son of the late William A. Liebert and Rose E. Meisner Liebert.

Gil was a Sales Engineer for Brandeis Machinery and Supply Company and an Army/Air Corp Veteran having served during WWII. He was a member of Church of the Epiphany.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a son, Richard A.; first wife and mother of his children, Winifred Knopf Liebert; three brothers, Raymond, Wilfred and Maurice; and a step-son, Patrick T. Gehm.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Corine C. Hutchison Liebert; daughter, Ann P. Thompson and her husband, Dr. Joseph L. Thompson; son, Gary P. Liebert, Ph.D.; step-children, William H. (Karen) Gehm, Abigail J. Gehm and Laura A. Burkhead (Terry); grandchildren, Laurie M. Edwards (Jeff), Patrick J. and Christopher J. Thompson and Fiston Boyita Bo Malinga; Melissa A., Tracy M. and Nathan P. (Jennifer) Gehm, Douglas (Wendy) Simmer, John Louis Gehm, Evan L. and Ryan P. (Michelle) Burkhead; great-grandchildren, Alexa, Lilly, Devyn, Camryn, Ava, Anna, Tyler, Charles, Sarah, Emmalee, Connor, Gregg, Jr, Travis, Chloe, Cameron, Mayce, Marlee, Mason and Jayden and two brothers, Elmer J. Liebert (Aline) and Robert F. Liebert.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 5th at Church of the Epiphany, 914 Old Harrods Creek Road with a luncheon immediately following Mass. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
