Alfred C. Smith was born April 14, 1886 on a farm in Lee township. The last 55 years of his life was spent on a farm south of Van Meter, where he specialized in Hereford cattle.

He served on the Van Meter school board for 16 years.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Alfred J. Smith of Earlham; six daughters, Mrs. Irvin Loose and Mrs. Robert Hazen of Van Meter, Mrs. John Kelley of Norwalk, Mrs. Herbert Olson and Mrs. Ed Dawson of Des Moines, and Mrs. Roy Stewart of Earlham.

Funeral Saturday For A. C. SMITH, 77

Funeral services for A. C. Smith, long-time resident south of Van Meter, were held last Saturday morning from St. Boniface Catholic church at Waukee.

Mr. Smith died Dec. 12, 1963, at Mercy hospital in Des Moines. He was 77 years of age.

Alfred C. Smith was born April 14, 1886 on a farm in Lee township. The last 55 years of his life was spent on a farm south of Van Meter, where he specialized in Hereford cattle.

He served on the Van Meter school board for 16 years.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Alfred J. Smith of Earlham; six daughters, Mrs. Irvin Loose and Mrs. Robert Hazen of Van Meter, Mrs. John Kelley of Norwalk, Mrs. Herbert Olson and Mrs. Ed Dawson of Des Moines, and Mrs. RoyStewart of Earlham.

Officiating at the service Saturday morning was the Rev. Mr. M. J. Schuete. Burial was in the Booneville cemetery.
