Clarence Dewey Barber, age 87, passed away peacefully at the Brian Center in Waynesville, NC, on Monday, December 6, 2010, with his loving wife by his side. He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Delco, NC and was a retired chemical plant supervisor. Mr. Barber was preceded in death by his parents, Lou Cindy Burney Barber and Lonnie Wesley Barber; one sister: Annie Ruth Robbins.
Mr. Barber is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mildred Bigford Barber. One daughter: Glenda Potter and husband Billy of Riegelwood, NC, one stepdaughter: Judith Justice and husband Earl of Beaufort, SC; four sons: Dewey Wayne Barber and wife Martha Nell "Sissy" of Jesup, GA; Alan Gene Barber and wife Phyllis of Riegelwood, NC; William Wesley "Billy" Barber of Riegelwood, NC; Barry Lyle Barber and wife Jean of Council, NC., Ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren: one sister; Pauline Sykes of Riegelwood, NC.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Faith Baptist Church in Delco, NC officiated by Pastor Jack Tillman. Music will be provided by the Faith Baptist Church family. Graveside service and Military Honors will follow in the Faith Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening December 10, 2010, from 5-7 PM at Faith Baptist Church.
