Haysi, VA - Sandra Powers, age 68 of Lazurus Branch, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012. Born in Dickenson County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Odra Colley Willis. She was last employed as a cashier at E&S Grocery and was of the Old Regular Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Edwards, two brothers, Bobby Gene Willis and Johnny Willis, two nephews, David Shawn Willis and Johnny Wayne Willis, a great-nephew, Jacob Steven Morgan, and a brother-in-law, Gurvis Yates.

Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly (Ronnie) Owens of Bristol, VA, two grandchildren, Sophie Grayce and Samuel Fisher, two sisters, Toni (Frank) Fuller and Lois Yates both of Haysi, two brothers, Robert (Nancy) Willis and Terry Willis both of Haysi, three special nieces that she considered daughters, Mellonie Anderson, Lori Morgan, and Amy Whitcher, a special great-niece that called her Granny, Chloe Elizabeth Whitcher, and two special great-nieces, Taylor and Jewel Fuller, two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Willis of Haysi, and Phyllis Willis of Emory, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at Haysi Funeral Home with Elder A.L. Yates officiating. Burial will follow in the Rebecca Willis Cemetery, Haysi. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
