MOUNT MORRIS—Gladys F. Johnston, 95, of Mount Morris, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 1996[sic], in Pinecrest Manor nursing home. Born Aug. 14, 1901, in Wolcott, Ind., daughter of Vol and Cora Blakely Shonkwiler. Married Alex[sic] A. Johnston on June 16, 1923, in Kankakee; he died Jan. 3, 1970. She was a homemaker. Member of Disciples United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Mount Morris. Graduate of DeKalb Teachers College. Survivors include two sons, Robert (Helen) Johnston of Mount Morris and Richard (Dixie) Johnston of Roswell, Ga.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;[sic] Also predeceased by parents, four brothers and one sister.

Graveside services at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Dixon, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel L. Swinson, pastor of Disciples United Methodist Church officiating. No Visitation. Memorials to Pinecrest manor or the church. Arrangements by Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt St., Mount Morris.
