Mathew (sic) A. Poklinkoski, age 85, of 4912 County Trunk CR, Manitowoc, died
Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at his residence.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at St. Mary Catholic
Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Memorial Mass will be the Rev. Roman
Zbieranski O.F.M. with burial of the cremated remains at St. Casimir Church
Cemetery, Northeim.

He was born June 1, 1916, in Manitowoc, son of the late Anton and Rose Pokorski
Poklinkoski. On July 14, 1945, he married the former Ruth A. Adler at St. Mary
Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Matt's love of nature, animals and plants directed
his decision to become one of Manitowoc's first landscapers and he became known
as "The Builder of Beauty," when he began Manitowoc Landscape Co. in 1938. Matt
was a member of Manitowoc Eagles, Kiwanis Club, Optimist Club and Master
Builders.

Survivors include his wife: Ruth Poklinkoski, Manitowoc; two sons and a daughter-
in-law: Patrick and Brenda Poklinkoski, Timothy Poklinkoski and Sherri Schweigl,
all of Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Jacob Poklinkoski and Noah Poklinkoski; two
brothers and two sisters-in-law: Clarence Poklinkoski, Anton and Adeline
Poklinkoski, Carol Adler, all of Manitowoc; and a sister, Alvina Wagner, Valders.
Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also
preceded in death by a brother: Edward Poklinkoski; a sister: Ann Zboralski Shimek;
and four brothers-in-law: Alfred Wagner, Harry Zielinski, Clarence Shimek, Ambrose
Zboralski; and a sister-in-law: Betty Poklinkoski.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc,
from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the time of Memorial Mass at 11 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family
with funeral arrangements.

Matt loved people and his many friends. His favorite spot was an island on Mount
Lake, Ontario, where he spent many hours fishing for walleye.

The family would like to thank the employees of Holy Family Home Care and Hospice
for their care and support.
