Michael Leuck was a saloon keeper in the town of Baden, Lafayette Twp., Keokuk Co., Iowa, according to the 1880 census. He married Mary Hipp, daughter of Daniel and Mary Hipp. Their children were Genevieve Leuck, born circa 1872; M. Daniel Leuck, born circa 1874; P. Joseph Leuck, born circa 1876; Mary K. Leuck, born circa 1879; Grace Leuck, born circa 1882 and Anna Leuck, born circa 1885. After her husband's death, Mrs. Mary Leuck owned and operated the former Salisbury House Hotel in Harper, Iowa. Her daughter Grace married Paul Schaede in 1904 and one daughter married Art Cummings and lived in Champagne, Illinois. Mrs. Mary (Hipp) Leuck married Frank Smith, son of Johan and Susanna (Becker) Smith in 1900, at Cawker City, Kansas. It was the second marriage for both. They later separated.

March 15, 1906. Mrs. Frank Smith went to Chicago, called by the birth of a son, to her daughter, Mrs. Art Cummings.

Feb. 12, 1903. Mrs Frank Smith went to Champagne, Illinois, to be present at the wedding of her son, Joe Leuck on the 17th.

March 1, 1901. Joe Leuck sold out his restaurant and is going where his brother Dan is, to work on the railroad.
