5 Sep 2006: Luther E. Benedick, 85, died Sunday morning, September 3, 2006, at his home. He was the husband of Nancy (Feltenberger) Benedick with whom she shared 30 years of his life. Funeral Thursday at Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Dallastown, Rev. Russell Clark officiating. Burial in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mr. Benedick was born July 18, 1921, in Conewago Twp., York County. He was the son of the late Oliver G. and Elsie (Wilt) Benedick. Mr. Benedick was employed by Caterpillar for many years prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during WWII. He was a member of Viking Club in York. Besides his family, he loved boating, convertibles, Corvette's long leisurely rides, Billy Graham, his Mickey Mouse Pocket watch, Country music, playing the banjo and telling a good joke or story...over and over and over and over. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to California, where they lived at the beach for three years; Disneyland; the shore; Puerto Rico; Mexico; and new places. The only thing he lacked in his life was "sugar" which he made up for daily with a little ice cream and chocolate cake. His favorite saying was, "There is nothing wrong with me a little ice cream won't fix" . We will miss him dearly and he will live in our hearts forever. In addition to his wife, Mr. Benedick is survived by his four boys, James Benedick and his wife Emily of Mission Viejo, CA, Gar L. Benedick and his wife Barbara of Laguna Hills, CA, Jeffrey Benedick and his partner Duane Vajgrt of Laguna Beach, CA, Keith Benedick and his wife Karen of Maui, HI; stepson Michael Feltenberger of York; brother Marlet Benedick of Washington, DC; sister Theda Decker of York; granddaughter Carmen Lee Benedick; and grandson Sean Benedick. He was preceded in death by brother Raymond Benedick. [York Daily Record]
