BARBARA L. SMITH, 74, Bedford, died at 9:25 p.m. July 15, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Eagles No. 654 and the auxiliary of the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, both of Bedford.

She was born February 1, 1927, in Clinton County to Jesse and Jessie Thompson McKinney. She married John C. Smith, Sr., and he died in 1985.

Surviving are a son, John C. of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Glen (Karen J.) Weaver of Bedford a brother, Ward of Kirklin; two sisters, Florence Muegge of Evansville and Phyllis Jeffries of Lebanon; and five grandchildren.

Two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
