Mrs. Phyllis Ann Jeffries, 89, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Homewood Health Campus. Phyllis was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Kirklin, a daughter of the now late Jess and Jessie (Thompson) McKinney. Reared and educated in Kirklin, she graduated from Kirklin High School. On March 22, 1942, she was married to Basil Jeffries Jr., in Lafayette. Mr. Jeffries passed away on Sept. 21, 2008. Phyllis spent many years taking care of her family and home. For a period of time, she worked as a bookkeeper for Roberts Farm Equipment. Later, she was employed with L.S. Ayers as a store clerk. She took great pleasure in her family, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Phyllis was a member of Central Christian Church in Lebanon. Survivors include three daughters, Sue (Stanley) Puckett of Carmel, Paula J. (Kenneth) Packer of Naperville, Ill., and Becky Jeffries of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Courtney (Andrew Mark) Liszewski of South Bend, Mark (Amy) Langille and Ryan Langille, all of Chicago, Ill., and Kevin Puckett and Robin Puckett, both of Carmel; and six great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 10 siblings. Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. today, Oct. 1, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Myers Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
