Carolyn G. Hindman

Carolyn Grace Hindman, 68, of Interlachen, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born in Lakeland and was a resident of Interlachen for the past eight years, coming from Mims. She was formerly employed in the records section with the Florida Highway Patrol in Orlando and Department of Transportation in DeLand. She left employment with the state to attend the Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn. Upon returning to Orlando, she reared her children and later worked as a financial planner with the Carpenter Advisory Co. in Orlando. She was known for her witnessing and gave out over 10,000 pens with a gospel message printed on them. At UF Health hospital in Gainesville, she was known as the “Pen Lady.” She enjoyed making Christian plaques. She was a people person who invested her life into other people. She enjoyed stock car racing and was a Jeff Gordon fan. She was a faithful witness and a member of the First Baptist Church of Interlachen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ina Grace McGinnes.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim Hindman of Interlachen; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susanna and Jim Erb of Orlando, Joanna Hindman of Interlachen and Jamie and Dave Stewart of Longwood; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Ashley Hindman of Orlando; her stepmother, Pauline Autrey of Interlachen; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Charlie Crews of North Augusta, S.C., and Jane and Steve Waterhouse of North Augusta, S.C.; two half-brothers, Edwin McGinnis of South Florida and Darrell McGinnes of Colorado; six grandchildren, Bobby Stewart, Terry Stewart, Jeff Stewart, Mackenzie Erb, Ethan Hindman and Riley Hindman; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will begin receiving friends 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22 at First Baptist Church of Interlachen with services following at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Tony Clubb officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineview Cemetery in Interlachen.
