Glenn Earl Hill

1928 - 2015

VETERAN

Glenn Earl Hill passed away peacefully on December 18, 2015, at his home in Provo, Utah, with his dear wife Geraldine by his side.

He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 19, 1928, to Guy Glenn and Delila Mumford Hill Hall. He grew up during his teen years in Kemmerer, Wyoming. As a freshman at Idaho State University, Glenn played basketball. Glenn married Geraldine Willoughby, also from Kemmerer, on February 5, 1949 (almost 67 years of marriage), a date now remembered also as one of the city's worst winter storms. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Japan, in years following World War II. In 1953, Glenn and Geraldine relocated to Portland, Oregon where Glenn spent over 32 years as a faculty, high school principal, and district administrator. He was a published author and kept meticulous journals and family history documents.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in numerous callings throughout his life. He served as a patriarch, temple sealer, bishop (twice), and in three stake presidencies in the Portland, Oregon area. A generous, loving and loved father, grandfather and relative, he devoted his life to the happiness and well-being of his family. He also bore fervent testimony of Jesus Christ. Glenn was the embodiment of a loving patriarch. He taught his children how to do many things from sports to music. He taught by example the virtues of generosity, gratitude, honesty and peace. He was a kind and gentle man from whom rarely was a raised voice heard. His family and friends will miss him.

Glenn Hill is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Geraldine, and by his children: Scott Allan Hill (Donna Klippert), Guy Glenn Hill (Cathy Ann Mossman), David Grant Hill (Adrienne Elizabeth Burns), Susan Lynne Hill (John Richards), and John Edward Hill. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at the Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 N. University Ave., Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10 to 11 am at Nelson Family Mortuary. Interment will be at Provo City Cemetery.
