FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DIES
Matt Wild Passes in Chicago, Rites Here Saturday
Matt Wild, 74, a former Manitowoc resident, died Wednesday night at the home of his sister, Miss Lizzie Wild at Chicago, with whom he resided. The body is to be brought to Manitowoc Friday evening and taken to the Pfeffer Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday at 8:45 am from the funeral home followed by a solemn requiem high mass at nine o'clock from the St. Andrew Church. Interment will be in St. Peter's church cemetery south of the city.
The deceased was born on a farm three miles south of the city in 1861. After he attained his majority, he moved to Colorado where he taught school for a few years and later worked in the mines. He returned to Chicago where after two years on the police force he took up work as a mail clerk on the New York Central line. He continued this work until retiring a few years ago.
Survivors are three sisters, Lizzie and Anna Wild and Mrs. Josephine Scherer, all of Chicago.
