FRANK F. PERNO
Frank F. Perno, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY.
Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Dominic and Maria (Critelli) Perno.
Frank was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools including the former Trott Vocational High School. Frank served in the United States Army during World War II with the 70th Infantry Division, and was involved in the Campaigns of Central Europe and Rhineland. Frank began working at Nabisco Shredded Wheat in Niagara Falls, NY in 1938. He worked in various departments throughout his career and retired in 1982 after 44 years of service.
Frank was a member of the Gill Creek Athletic Association. He was extremely handy and enjoyed working on home improvement projects. He was a talented harmonica player, avid golfer and all-around sports enthusiast. But most of all Frank's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren
Frank was predeceased by his first wife, Edith (Capolupo) Perno and his second wife, Elizabeth (Mandia) Perno.
He is survived by his three children, Maria (Bruce) Burns, Linda (James) Isenhart and Frank J. (Colleen) Perno, all of Grand Island, NY; six grandchildren, James F. (Virginia) Isenhart, Bruce M. (Jacqueline) Burns, Kevin J. (Melissa) Isenhart, Brian T. Isenhart, Travis F. Perno and Craig J. Perno; three great-grandchildren, Quentin, Blake and Laney Isenhart, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by three brothers, Angelo Perno, Louis Muraco and Thomas Muraco; five sisters, Mary Paonessa, Bessie DiGregorio, Frances Chiccone, Elizabeth Galante and Josephine Bongiovanni.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Monday, December 21st at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S., officiating.
Interment with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
