Leslie Arent, age 89, went home to the loving arms of his Savior on December 14, 2015, at A Touch of Home Residential Care, Marshfield, WI. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at Hansen Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 E Veterans Pkwy, Marshfield. Visitation will be Monday, December 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday. A private burial will take place at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, WI.


Leslie was born to Herman and Effie (Jones) Arent, the second of seven children, on November 12, 1926, at their homestead in Merriman, NE. He graduated from Johnstown High School and served in the army during World War II in Germany, as a Tec 5 in the 16th Calvary, Troop C.


On January 31, 1952 he married "that Oatman girl", Iloe. They worked on three ranches in Nebraska where their five daughters were born. In 1962 they moved to Wausau, WI where they purchased a farm and raised their family. During that time he served several terms as Hewitt township supervisor. After selling their farm, they lived in Waupaca, WI, Cotter, AR, and Springfield, MO.


Wherever they lived, Les was very active in the local Assembly of God church, serving on several of the deacon boards. He had a passion for world missions, being highly involved in Light for the Lost. In his later years he returned to Marshfield, WI to be close to his family.Besides his pride in his" five dairy maids", one of his most memorable accomplishments was the honor of being named 1971 FHA Farm Family of the Year.


While living in Springfield, he spent several years writing and publishing his life's story, "A Prairie Lad's Walk with God". Grateful for having shared life together are his wife, Iloe and five daughters, Helen (Wayne) Pattengill, Marshfield, Wi; Mary (Mark) Boone, Brainerd, MN; Julie (Garland) Knobbe, Omaha, NE; Linda (Denny) Christenson, Marshfield, WI; and Bonnie (Dean) Krubsack, Birnamwood, WI, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; brothers Bob (Marlene), Nampa, ID, Alvin (Jerry), sister, Eldora (Jack) Vetter, Gretna, NE, sister-in-law Glenna Arent, Colorado Springs, CO, and Nawaz and Lisa Lalani, McKinney, TX, very close family friends.


Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Effie, his brothers Howard and Lyle and his sister Elaine.Grandchildren: Dustin (Jen) Pattengill, Daniel (Lindsey) Pattengill; Jeffrey (Anne) Boone; Bryan (Trena) Boone; Julie Boone; Jeremy (Laura) Knobbe; Julie Knobbe; Teirney (Leah) Christenson; Daryn Christenson; Tiara Christenson; Joshua (Mindy) Cranmer; Jamie Cranmer; Jason (Miranda) Cranmer; Michelle (Kameron) Mikul and Paul Krubsack.Great-grandchildren: Emma, Olivia and Addison Pattengill; Ella, Cameron and Nora Pattengill; Theo and Archie Boone; Cora, Bryson and Mari Boone; Gavin and Mason Knobbe; Kaydence and Quincey Christenson; Dawson and Elias Cranmer; Tevin Kenton; Conor and Landon Busby and Isabella Cranmer.Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Effie, his brothers Howard and Lyle and his sister Elaine.
