Jerry J. Lundy, 76, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following a brief illness.
He was born on May 21, 1939, in Alexandria to Tom and Helen (Gustin) Lundy and has lived in the Alexandria-Elwood area all of his lifetime. Jerry has been a commercial truck driver for more than 30 years. Most recently, he drove for State Plating in Elwood retiring in 2003. He was also known as a skilled auto mechanic. In his younger years, Jerry drove stock cars in figure 8 racing. He was a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Bates) Lundy, whom he married Jan. 3, 1987; three sons, John (Andrea) Lundy of Alexandria, Jim Stump of Elwood, Chris (Renee) Stump of Gainesville, Fla.; four daughters, Teresa Anderson of Alexandria, Patty (Rick) Buckingham of Fortville, Jenny (Paul) Sizelove of Brentwood, Tenn., Amanda (Adam) Farley of Anderson; special "kids," Jenny and Heintz Sickmann of Elwood; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry Lundy; four sisters, Norma Guffey, Barbara Hall, Mary Ruth Cowart and Corrine Richardson; three nephews, Ted Reasoner, Jake Reasoner and Dean Cowart.
Following cremation, a private inurnment service will take place in the Garden of Serenity Columbarium Garden in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria.
