Donald Dale Bolander, 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri, formerly of Elwood, Kansas passed away Monday, December 14, 2015.

Donald was born on January 29, 1938 in Parsons, Kansas to Wilbur and Hazel (McPeak) Bolander. He started teaching school in Topeka, Kansas, moving to Caldwell, Kansas, Blackwell, Oklahoma and Braman, Oklahoma. He became a librarian, worked at the Ellinwood, Kansas School. In Ellinwood he was involved in consolidating the Public Library and school library. Donald worked at the Public Library in Hays, Kansas, the school library in Caldwell, Kansas and finished his career at the Elwood School in Elwood, Kansas. Following his teaching career Donald owned and operated Donald’s Bookshelf in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He was a member of the Brookdale Presbyterian Church of St. Joseph, Missouri.

Donald married Marcia Elliott on August 31, 1958 Parsons, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother, William J. Bolander, step-mother, Elizabeth Hart, a step-brother, Robert “Bobby” Wallace.

Stephen D. (Crystal) Bolander, Flat Rock, Michigan;
David L. (Sue) Bolander, St. Joseph, Missouri;
Brothers; Richard Wayne Bolander of Flint, Michigan;
Robert Lee “Bobby” Bolander of Springfield, Missouri;
Step-sister, Mary Jane Wallace, 3 step-brothers; Jack, Ray and Terry Wallace;
12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, nieces nephews.

Funeral Service: Saturday, December 19, 2015 – 9:30 A.M.
At: Brookdale Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph, Missouri
Visitation: family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday evening at the Brookdale Church, friends may call at the Harman Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas after 3 PM Thursday.
Burial: Hatler Cemetery, Altoona, Kansas
