Nancy was born in Fauquier Co. Virginia, probably near Upperville. She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Short and Sarah Catherine Rogers. She was always listed as Ella in the census, until 1930, when she was listed as Nancy. The name Nancy probably came from her grandmother Nancy (Leach) Short. She married Harvey Lyon in California, Moniteau Co., Missouri on 28 Dec 1870. They were married at her mothers residence according to the marriage certificate. She was my Great Grand Aunt. Tom M. Short II.
