Charles Scotchmer
Charles J. Scotchmer, 88, of Hammondsport, a life-long area vineyardist, died last Thursday in Ira Davenport Hospital.
He was born in Prattsburgh January 23, 1878, the son of John and Maria Catchpole Scotchmer. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Hammondsport.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs Lena White of Prattsburg, Mrs. Lizzie Houck of Dundee and Mrs. Esther Rouse of Painted Post; three sons, Lloyd and Delbert of Hammondsport and, Howard of Wayne, a brother, Phillip of Penn Yan, 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Bond Funeral Home in Hammondsport. The Reverend Clair Statham officiating. Burial was in Prattsburgh Rural Cemetery
