Dennis was born September 8, 1934 in Amarillo to Bertha and Robert Smith. He was a lifelong resident of Amarillo.

He married the love of his life, Georgie Harriss in Tucumcari, NM, on December 1, 1957.

He worked in the flooring business with his brother for 25 years. After the flooring business, he owned and operated the North Plains Overhead Door Company for the last 25 years working until his 80th birthday. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and he was also known for telling stories. The main story he wanted people to know was, he loved his Lord. He will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Robert, affectionately known as, “Mom & Pop”, four brothers and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Georgie Smith of the home; his nieces and nephew, Cindy Black and husband Danny, David Smith and wife Dana, and Becky Tracy; longtime family friend, Grady Rose; brother-in-law, Ed Meckley; sister-in-law, Pauline Dunlap and husband Ray; as well as nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
