The middle of three children to Charles and Sarah Baily.
Worked as a carpenter after leaving school. He married Fanny Howell in March 1902 - they went on to have five children.
Enlisted in the Somerset Light Infantry, joining the 1st/4th Battalion as a Private. His battalion served in India and Mesopotamia during the conflict.
Charles was demobbed shortly after the Armistice; he returned home to Frome, but passed away on 2nd July 1919.
