She was born January 28, 1925, the third of five children born to Homer Isaac Hood and Annie Letitia Hood.
She was a graduate of Georgetown High School and attended a business college in San Antonio TX.
She went to work at Fort Sam for the civil service and came to be an executive secretary at M.I. C. Mortgages.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James V. Hood, Charles R. Hood and Don M. Hood; her son, Carl L. Ziener and daughter, Mary Warmowski and her beloved husband of 20+ years, Jackson Daugherty.
She is survived by her sister, Norma Jean Voigt; her son, Forrest Summers and 5 grandchildren, Troy Summers, Todd Summers, Sean Summers, Amber Martin, and Michael Bonnet; also 2 step grandchildren, Tonya Warren and Jason West; great-grandchildren, Hayley Summers, Megan Summers, Russell Summers, Macy Summers, Donovan Gant, Aizlyn Gant, Zoe Martin, numerous nieces, nephews and her Eastern Star Family (She had been a Past Worthy Matron).
Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral Service will begin at 12 Noon on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 also at the funeral home with Order of the Eastern Star Service. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
