Arthur was the son of Alfred Randall Meeks and Malinda Vilate Covington. Dellas was the Fifth of Six Children. Dellas graduated from Valley High School and stayed in Orderville helping dad Farm,Herd Sheep and work in their Sawmill and Coal Mine until he was 26. at 28 he was drafted in the United States Army and served in World War II in the Field Artillery Division on the front lines in Europe until the war ended. He pursued a career at Steven Henager's Buisness College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Accounting. He married Ruth Coulam on May 12, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They adopted two children. He worked for Service Station Supply right out of school and then at Vitro Corporation in Salt Lake City. Transferred to Denver, Colorado to work for Earth Resource Company who then transferred him to Dallas. Texas. where he continued to work as an Accountant until he retired. He and Ruth moved back to Utah in 1985 to be closer to family. He was a Patient,Gentle and Loving Husband,Father,Grandpa,Uncle and FDriend. Dellas loved to read. It was a great joy to him. He had an amazing memory, remembering dates and numbers and history. He was genuine and tender hearted. He was loved by all his Nieces and Nephews.
He served in the LDS Church in many clerical callings and cherished the years he and Ruth spent doing Temple Work in the Jordan River Temple. For many years he gave great service to his Wife in her Extended Illness. He was preceded in death by his Son, Arthur Gregory Meeks. He was survived by his Daughter Marilyn Irene (Mark) Smith, of South Jordan. Including Four Grandchildren, Renee, Abigail, Hannah and Katie.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday August 12, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Butler Chapel, 2695 East 7200 South in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. A Viewing was held on Friday night at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive from 6-8 P.M. and at the Church from 10:00 To 11:00 A.M. prior to services.
Graveside Services followed at the Salt Lake City Cemetery where he was buried next to his Wife, Ruth and Son, Arthur.
Ruth died on September 13, 1997.
