Professional Football Player. For five seasons (1962 to 1963 and 1965 to 1967), he played at the defensive back (safety) position in the National Football League with the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams. Born Charles Watt Lamson, he attended Ames High School in Iowa and played collegiate football at Iowa State University, prior to transferring to the University of Wyoming. While with the Cowboys, he was a member of two Conference Title winners (1960 and 1961). Selected by Minnesota during the 4th round of the 1961 NFL Draft, he totaled 67 career regular season games. During his years with the Rams, Lamson formed a secondary which included Eddie Meador and Irv Cross. After retiring from football, he managed a ranch in Colorado. He was inducted into the Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010. He died of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
