Daughter of Samuel Scowden Sr. and his second wife Elizabeth Cross.

She died sometime between 1900 and 1910 and was probably buried here near her brothers John and William Scowden.

Elsa married about 1865, probably in Pike Co., Ohio to Albert G. Argo, born 1840 in Ohio.

In 1870, her brother William was living with them in Iowa:
