Services for Betty will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 also at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Betty Wagner was born on July 16, 1935 in Marshalltown to Edward and Hazel Marie Fields Wagner. Betty graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1953. On March 4, 1956, Betty was united in marriage to Lanny German in Marshalltown. Betty enjoyed singing in the choir, quilting, going to livestock shows and playing cards. She also was a little league coach, 4-H Leader, member of the Trinity Ladies Aid and Sunday school teacher and treasured the times spent with her grandchildren attending their activities.
Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lanny. Children: Kevin (Teri) German of Ottumwa, Mark German of State Center, Suzanne (Gary) Krause of Conrad and Greg German of State Center. Grandchildren: Courtney, Cole, RyLee, Tyler and Beau (Holly) German, Brandi (Shane) Pauling, Ashley (Brian) Ladehoff and Austin (McKaylee) Krause. Great grandchildren: Gabriella and Addison German, Eden and Tenley Ladehoff and Brooklyn Pauling. Betty is also survived by her brother Ron (Betty) Wagner and in-laws LaVern and Nola German.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Hazel, daughter Beth Renae, granddaughters Tera and Amber Krause and brother and sister in laws Kenneth and Ethleen Veren and Virgil and Eloise Klemme.
Funeral services for Betty German, 80, of State Center, were held Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center with Rev. Mike Maddick officiating. Mrs. German was laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tyler German, Beau German, Austin Krause, Brian Ladehoff, Cole German and Jay Klemme.
Honorary Pallbearers were Brandi and Shane Pauling, Ashley Ladehoff, Courtney German, Rylee German and Holly German.
Betty's family and friends were in attendance along with groups from Trinity Lutheran Church, Care Initiatives Hospice and State Center Specialty Care.
Mitchell Family Funeral Home was entrusted with the care of Betty and her family.
