Zeona Mecham Walker, 91, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. She was born April 15, 1924, in Orem, Utah, to Earl and Vera Eliza Burr Mecham.

She married Leon Radmall Walker, May 4, 1945, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Zeona was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her posterity includes nine children, 31 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She served in many callings in the LDS Church; yet what she treasured most was her work with Primary children for more than two decades. Zeona and Leon also served as Mission Presidents in Chile, MTC Presidents in Peru, and a service mission in Guatemala.

Zeona devoted her time and energy to helping others. Her example, taught those around her that service without recognition or fanfare, was the highest reward. Her genuine interest in others, wry sense of humor, and welcoming demeanor, ensured a steady stream of friends and family who frequently visited her at home. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by nine children: Terry (Gail), Lindon; Lynn (Sharlynn), South Jordan; Kristeen VanWagoner, Lindon; Koleen (Charlie) Birch, Claude, TX; Kevin (Sara), East Lansing, MI; Karleen (Randy) Read, Lindon; Klark (Paula), Springville; Kent (Nancy), Mt. Pleasant; Karl (Lori), Riverton; and her sister Bertie Lou (Monte) King, Orem. Zeona is preceded in death by her husband, grandson Jason Walker, son-in-law Gordon VanWagoner, parents, and six siblings.

A viewing will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Olpin Family, Mortuary, 494 S. 300 E. St., Pleasant Grove, UT. 84062. Family services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
