Sample Orr and his large family lived in Fayette County, AL (see 1830 and 1840 census). He married Susannah Parrott about 1816 in NC. He appears in the 1850 Pontotoc, MS census (as Sample Oar). He moved his wife and many of his children to the southeast part of Hunt County TX about 1852 where he acquired 160 acres near the Hopkins county line. He died in 1870 in Hopkins County, but his residence was in Donelton in Hunt County.
