Wilton completed his literary studies at the Academy at Randolph, Cattaraugus, NY and the State Normal School at Edinboro, Erie, Pa. He served as Superintendent of Common Schools for Warren County from 1 Oct 1865 to 1 Dec 1871.

Lawyer & Judge; he studied law under the Hon. S. P. Johnson of Warren and was admitted to the Bar on 4 March 1872.

He represented Warren County in the PA State Legislature in 1877 & 1878.

Wilton & Emma had three children: Edward S. (1872), Henry H. (1876), & Lucien B. (1879).
