Bud was born on July 18, 1936, in Brunswick, NE, to Truman and Pearl (Thompson) Ernst. He worked in personnel with the Nebraska Air National Guard for 35 years. He was an avid hunter, antique collector and Husker fan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1720 Lake St, Lincoln. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 pm to 7:30 pm, with a Rosary at 7:30 pm at Butherus Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A St. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery
