Archbishop Walter Xavier Brown D.D., 66, formerly of Milwaukee, was born into Eternal Life on Thursday, July 23, 1998.

He was born in Portage on November 9, 1931, the son of Henry M. and Alice M. (nee: Park) Brown. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Pfier.

He was the Founder of St. Francis Parish in Kankakee, Ill., Holy Family Parish of West Allis, Our Lady of Perpetual Help of Milwaukee, Our Lady of The Angels of Wauwatosa, St. Nicholas of Richwood, Holy Family Retreat of Milwaukee, and April House Recovery Center of Milwaukee. The Archbishop also was head of Holy Cross Seminary in Kankakee, Ill.

He is survived by his adopted son, Michael Brown; his sisters, Geraldine Hemple, Alice Anderson, and Gladys Lui; brother, Gerald (Clara) Brown. He is further survived and loved by his grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Henry Brown; and his wife, Dorothy.

Funeral services will be held at Mound Cemetery, 1147 West Boulevard on July 27, 1998, at 11:00 a.m. with The Most Rev. Lois Elias Mylazzo D.D. and Fellow Clergy. Interment will be in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be at Mound Cemetery on Monday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
