Mack Morris, age 86, of Gatesville passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in Gatesville.

Funeral services and Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home, with Chaplain Gary Baxley officiating. Visitation with the family will follow services in the chapel. Interment will be at Gatesville Masonic Cemetery.

Mack was born on May 14, 1929 in Andrews, South Carolina to the late William James Benjamin and Betty Elizabeth Fulton Morris. He grew up in South Carolina. He received his Associates Degree from Sam Houston State University. Mack married Martha Ann Davidson on January 24, 1952. He served two years in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged in 1953. He and his wife resided in South Carolina for a few years, moving to Gatesville in 1956. He was an assistant superintendent at the Gatesville State School for Boys for 16 years and worked for the Texas Dept. of Agriculture for 13 years, retiring in 1987. His wife preceded him in death on February 21, 2013. Mack was a member of the Gatesville Masonic Lodge #197 A.F. & A.M., Waco Scottish Rite Bodies, and Waco Karem Shrine. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and five sisters.

Mack is survived by his daughter, Shelly Cooley of Waxahachie; two grandchildren, Travis Cooley of Valdosta, Georgia and Chad Cooley of Spring Branch, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
