Albert R. Braun, 80, Hays, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at Harry Hynes Hospice Center at Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita.

He was born Nov. 13, 1935, on the family farm northwest of Victoria to Raymond P. and Agnes (Staab) Braun. He was a 1953 graduate of Victoria High School.

He married Stella Huser on May 14, 1955, in Vincent.

He was a lifelong farmer, oilwell owner and operator, master carpenter and builder, and a square-dance caller and teacher throughout the region for 40 years. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Fidelis, Third Degree Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus, all of Victoria, Hays Arts Council and Northwest Kansas Square Dance Callers Association.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son Douglas Braun and wife, Machell, Victoria; three daughters, Brenda Meder (Tim), Hays, Linda Beilman and husband, Mike, Eudora, and Doreen Koerner and husband, Tim, Victoria; a brother, John Braun and wife, Josie, Victoria; two sisters, Clara Baier, Seattle, and Theresa Kuhn, Victoria; a brother-in-law, Clarence Leiker, Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren, Nate Meder (Sara), Heath Meder (Kelli), Leah Hansen (Andrew), Bethany Stadalman (Kyle), Lindsey Lisenby (Jeromy), Scott Koerner (Janelle), Evan Koerner (Katy), Kendra, Heather and Katherine Braun; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Roxann Marie Braun; two brothers, Charles (Lucille and Lillian) Braun and Elmer Braun; and three sisters, Irene Leiker, Fidelia Honas (Eddie) and Lillian Braun.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Basilica of St Fidelis, Victoria ; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Cline's Mortuary, 412 Main, Victoria , KS 67671. A Daughters of Isabella/Christian Mothers rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with a vigil at 7 p.m., a Third Degree and Fourth Degree rosary at 7:30 p.m., all at the church. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Basilica of St. Fidelis or St. Boniface Cemetery Fund.
