On January 1st, 2017, Clara Braun Baier, 93 of Lakewood, WA went to heaven and is in the loving arms of ‘Jesus, her Savior.’

Clara Baier, daughter of Raymond P. Braun & Agnes Staab Braun was one of nine children born in Victoria, Kansas.

Clara was a homemaker for 59 years of marriage to her husband, Loren A. Baier who preceded her in death on February 17, 2005.

They were residents of Tacoma and Lakewood, WA for over 55 years. They enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing cards. Clara faithfully gave service to Jesus, her family and friends. Her kind words, generous heart and sweet smile were wrapped around bags of cookies and sweet treats to all who stopped by for visits. Clara had a beautiful way of making people feel special about themselves with her positive, charming and lovable attitude.

Clara was a precise seamstress, an artist in craft designs, an exceptional cook & hostess and most important a great story teller of the ‘good old days.’ Gardening, playing scrabble and visiting with people were joy filled gifts and she blessed all who were in her presence. Clara was a devoted wife, mother, sister, a grandmother of six and a great-grandmother of four.

Clara is survived by her four children: Arlene & (Wallace) Wills of Hemet, CA; Jan Loomis of University Place, WA; Lois & (Gene) Anderson of Escondido, CA; Tom & (Julie) Baier of Puyallup, WA. Also mourning Clara’s passing are her grandchildren Kimberly Kemp, Michelle Lawson, Randy Wills, Jonathan Loomis and Emily & Alex Baier. Her great-grandchildren are Trevor & Kiersten Smith and Clayton & Shelby Wills.

Clara is also survived by her brother, John Braun and her sister, Theresa Kuhn, both of Victoria, KS. She will be greatly missed by her family and the ‘special friends’ that she considered her extended family who loved and supported her so much.

Clara was predeceased by her brothers Elmer, Charles & Albert and her sisters Lillian, Irene & Fidelia, all of Kansas.

The family wishes to express our ‘deepest gratitude’ to the wonderful and devoted staff at the hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and ‘Merrill Gardens’ for their loving support and care of Clara as she prepared for her final journey. A rosary, mass, reception, and rite of committal will be held on January 12th, 2017 ~ Thursday @ 10:30 A.M. at St. Francis Cabrini Church in Lakewood, WA. Please join us in celebrating Clara’s life.
