CASTLEWOOD, Va. Michael Wayne Barnette, 44, woke up to a "Heavenly Sunrise" on Monday, November 23, 2015. He was born in Lebanon, Virginia, a son of the late Garfield Barnette. He was preceded in death by one brother, Randall Barnette. Michael was a graduate of Castlewood High School and Clinch Valley College where he received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. After a career with UPS, he then pursued his passion, logging. Michael was dearly loved and will be missed by many. He attended Mills Chapel Church and loved his family, church, and friends. But most of all he loved Jesus and spread the gospel wherever he could. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Barnette; two sons, Noah Barnette and Isaiah Barnette, both of the home; one stepson, Ethan Collins of Coeburn, Virginia; his mother, Hazel Barnette; one sister, Sharon Sutherland of Hickory, North Carolina; five brothers, James G. Barnette of Castlewood, Virginia, Freddie L. Barnette of Castlewood, Virginia, David A. Barnette and wife, Pam, of Castlewood, Virginia, Dean Barnette and wife, Heather, of Castlewood, Virginia, and Ronnie L. Barnette of Castlewood, Virginia; special friend, Terri Anne Funk; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Michael Wayne Barnette will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2015, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia, with the Rev. Mike Patrick and the Rev. Jason Nunley officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, in Gravel Lick Old Regular Baptist Church Cemetery, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Pallbearers will be James G. Barnette, Freddie L. Barnette, David A. Barnette, Dean Barnette, Ronnie L. Barnette, Luther "Bub" Leftwich, Noah Barnette, and Isaiah Barnette The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2015, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia.
