Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Chapel for Leona Howse Chance, 94, Rainbow City. Norman Flynn will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory directing.

Mrs. Chance departed this life for her heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010. She was born in Cullman County, but had resided in Gadsden since 1945. She truly had the God-given gift of serving others. Mrs. Chance loved helping people and did so by working as a dental assistant, nurse and private sitter. Mrs. Chance was a Christian lady and touched the lives of many people over her lifetime. She was the kind of loving, caring person that will be remembered here on earth and has many treasures stored in heaven for a life well spent. Many were touched through her faithful service at Rainbow City Church of Christ and her help with Sunday School at McGuffey's.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband and companion, Carl Chance; and brothers, Harold (Helen) Howse, Donald (Sara) Howse and Arnold Howse.
Her family loved and cared for her, learned from her and will miss her in this life are son, Bill (Sandra) Chance; granddaughters, Leslie (Jeff) Harvey, Lori (Brandon) Snyder; great-grandchildren, John and Emily Harvey, Brittain and Brooklyn Snyder; sisters, Audie Allen, Birmingham, Mildred Sutton, Gadsden, Estelle Williams, Birmingham, Kay Moore, Jackson, Miss.; sister-in-law, Myrle Howse, Cullman.
