Funeral services for Joe H. Oliver, 80, were to be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Blue Springs Cemetery near Etoile with the pastor of the Baptist church there officiating. Interment will be in the Blue Springs Cemetery with Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Oliver died Wednesday afternoon at his home, 119 Persimmon, after a week's illness.

He was born October 18, 1866 in Texas. He had been a resident of Lufkin for the past nine years, having moved here from Nacogdoches county.

He is survived by one son, J. W. Oliver of Lufkin; three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Brookshire and Mrs. Mattie Griffith, both of Lufkin and Mrs. Nora Morton of Diboll; three brothers, John B. of Diboll, Butler of Zavalla and Bill of Wells; one sister, Mrs. Margurette Sides of Ratcliff; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
