In the Melbourne Presbytery yesterday regretful reference was made to the death of the Rev James Lambie a veteran clergyman of the Presbyterian Church who died at his residence Orchardlands Prahran on the morning of Saturday, the 3rd inst. The deceased was born in Paisley Scotland, and had reached the age of 72 years.

He had been an ordained minister for 40 years 21 of which were spent in this colony in the charges of Melton and Sunbury, and Wyndham and Little River Mr Lambie lived at Wyndham for about 15 years until about three years ago when he was compelled by the infirmity of age to retire from his active and energetic service of the church. He
however continued to preach occasionally
as health permitted up to within two months
of his death His last illness was of over a
month's duration and although towards the
end he suffered great pain he died very peacefully There are now remaining in the Presbyterian Church of Victoria only four
clergymen of older standing than the deceased. The rev gentleman leaves a widow, who was for 27 years his helpmate, a grown up family of seven, and many friends who held him in high esteem.
