Mrs Marcella May King Kirk, 74, of Springfield died at 12:39 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Hospital. She was born in Springfield on March 20, 1914, the daughter of the Rev. Anthony and Dona Mitchell King. She married Alvin Wade Kirk in 1938 and he died in 1957. She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Kirk had been a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the church organist for many years. Before her retirement in March 1988, Mrs. Kirk was employed by the Department of Transportation for 20 years.
Surviving are three daughters, Ella Jean Hines, Sandra Shaw and Sharon Irwin Jones; one son, Alvin Wade Kirk Jr. ; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles C. King of Neptune, N.J., and Samuel King of Milwaukee, Wis.; and one sister, Margaret Griswell of Springfield.
Services at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Graveside services in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
