A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, she was employed at various places in the community. In 1980, Patricia retired from the Mansfield News Journal where she received the “Woman of the Year” award. She was a current or past member of numerous organizations and committees including the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #17, White Shrine and Amaranth. Patricia’s love and life passion were supporting the Republican Party. Nothing in life would motivate her more than when she was working to support the many Republican candidates.
She is survived by her sister, Jeanette McFarland; brother-in-law, Roger Cook; sister-in-law, Betty Juergens; nieces, Debra Roberts, Diane Roza, Cathy Schaffer, Nancy McCain, Donna Bodine, Patty Holthaus, Pam Witter, and Sherri Kaufman; nephews, Ronald McFarland, Steve Arnold, Mike Arnold, and Mike Cook; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a special cousin, Margie Stoodt; and very special friends, Ruth Hooks and Wilma Hoffman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elkins; two brothers, Donald and David Smith; three sisters, Nancy Smith, Margie Cook and Carolyn Arnold; two brothers-in-law, Dave McFarland and Duane Arnold; three half brothers, Carlton, William and Robert Smith; and two half sisters, Wilma Stanley and Dorothy Manley.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Mansfield, Ohio. Pastor Ron Puff will conduct the service. Private family burial will be held in Mansfield Memorial Park. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
