Milton was the ninth child and the fourth son of the 12 children brought into this world by Andrew and Celestia Draper Oman without benefit of doctors. He was born on the bank of the Sanpitch River in Sanpete County between the small towns of Moroni and Mount Pleasant on November 17, 1905. He married Virginia Snyder of Twin Falls, Idaho in Salt Lake City, January 2, 1932 from whom he was later divorced and married Bessie Gray Joyce of Mayodan, North Carolina in Salt Lake City on June 6, 1974.
He was born into and remained a member of the LDS Church in which he was a supporting member all of his adult life. As a post office clerk in Salt Lake City, he worked to pay for his board and room and tuition while he attended the University of Utah for nine years from which he graduated with a Doctor of Law Degree in 1934. After graduation from college he worked as a supervisor in the management of public domain lands, which were located in Utah and within the 11 western states for about seven years and then became a Closing Attorney for the Corps of Army Engineers serving within the South Pacific Division until 1951 when he opened his law office in Salt Lake City where he practiced land law, primarily in the field of eminent domain within the said 10 western states in which the public lands owned by the United States were and still are located. His law practice was as a private practitioner.
The family of Andrew Oman engaged in the operation of livestock ranches of substantial size in southeastern Utah and in the State of Colorado. Milton was the individual owner and operator of livestock ranches in southeastern Utah almost all of his adult life. He was a member of the Salt Lake County Bar, the Utah Bar and was admitted to the practice of law in all Courts of the State of Utah and practiced Administrative Law in all of the 10 western states. He was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, the Lion's Club, the Sons of Utah Pioneers.
He was the father of two children, Robert, who was drowned in Lake Powell in l968 and of a surviving daughter, Annette, who resides in Salt Lake City; he is also survived by two granddaughters, Rae Lynn Oman and Jennifer Caine and by one grandson, Darin Oman Caine, all of Salt Lake City; also survived by two brothers; Dorse (wife Margaret) of Sandy, Odell (wife Margaret), Moses Lake, Washington and one sister, Addie Simons of Salt Lake City.
