LUVERNA “JANIE” (RICKETT) MCNEELY, 80, of Lucas, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015.

Janie was born on March 18, 1935 in Ashland to Wilson M. and Gertrude L. Rickett Cassell. She attended Little Washington Congregational Church and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers. She also enjoyed bowling and gardening and was a member of the Daughters of Herman, where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. Janie loved her family and was a great supporter of the sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She married Lester C. McNeely on July 14, 1956 and he survives. Along with her husband, Lester, she is survived by five children, Pam (Clark) Hertzler of Lucas, Gregory (Michele) McNeely of New York, Chris (Charlie) Parkison of Mansfield, Billie Sue (Charlie) Reiheld of Shreve, and Tom (Kasey) McNeely of Perrysville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and three siblings, Vickie Diane (Dick) Hanley of Florida, Jim Rickett of Ashland and Mary Alice Keener of Missouri.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Thorne E. Cassell; her son, Lester Calvin McNeely, II and her grandson, Dustin T. McNeely.

Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Little Washington Congregational Church, 2323 Washington South Road, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Dave Root officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Union Cemetery, Perrysville.
