In 1837, Pleasant purchased a 40 acre parcel of public land in Crawsfordville Indiana.
Per a book on Putnam County Furniture Makers, Pleasant was a furniture maker. The book has a paragraph about William Bybee, who states his father (Pleasant) was also a furniture maker. In the 1820 Barren County census, he is shown as being "involved in agriculture."
By 1860, he owned 600 acres of land. Pleasant died between the June 27, 1860 census, and his will being probated in court on 07 August, 1861. Despite extensive research, his grave has not been located. He may have been buried on the family farm.
It is probable that Pleasant was the grandson or great grandson of John Bybee Sr. This is supported by his seemingly close ties to the family of John Bybee Jr.
He appears on tax records living next door to sons of John Bybee in Barren County, and he migrated to Indiana with the Bybees and Allees. But he was not a son; not mentioned in John Jr' s will; not included in land transactions involving John Jr's children. Another association is his name, Pleasant. John Bybee Sr. had a son named Pleasant, who was named after a Quaker neighbor, Thomas Pleasants. Various branche s of the family used the name for years.
