She was born in Stokes County on September 9, 1922 to Walter and Claudia Joyce Mabe.
She was a member of Northview Primitive Baptist Church in Danbury.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Noel C. Dodson; brothers: Stanley Mabe, Claude Mabe, and Clarence Mabe; and sister, Kathleen Hutchins.
Survivors include son, Wayne Dodson and wife Peggy of Clemmons; daughter, Linda D. McPherson and husband Richard; five grandchildren: Francis Beasley and husband Jamie, Clifton Dodson and wife Leigh, Richie McPherson and wife Kim, Ryan McPherson and wife Jenny, and Meredith McPherson; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mary Bullins, Wilma Freeman, and Zula Manuel; brother, Morris Mabe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be on Saturday, November 21 at 12:30 p.m. at Gardens of Memory, 5676 Old Walkertown Road, Walkertown, NC.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Salem Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Street, Winston-Salem with a visitation following the service.
