John Sterling, one of the oldest citizens of this section of the country, died at the home of Isaac Thompson, February 6, 1916 and his remains were laid to rest in the Crider cemetery on February 7, 1916. At the time of his death he was 83 years, 1 month and 24 days old. He was born in Alabama and came to this country with his parents in his childhood days. He has lived here ever since.
He leaves to mourn a sorrowing widow, Margaret Sterling, and three grown children who are grief stricken at his demise. They are Mrs. Martha Bailey, Joplin, Thomas and John Sterling, Bland. Peace to his ashes.
