Waneitta was born November 8, 1925 to Harold and Gheula (Coakley) Ayers in Iowa City, Iowa. She attended country school and graduated from Coggon High School in 1943. She married Harold Thomas “Butch” Henderson on December 23, 1945 in Coggon. Waneitta attended Iowa State Teachers College and taught country school for 2 years. She joined the First Christian Church in 1941 and was active in the United Parish Church in Coggon. Waneitta belonged to Eastern Star, Ladies Literary & Social Club and Church Ladies Group. After teaching, she was a mother and homemaker until her and Butch established H & W Dry Goods in 1961 and operated their business until 1984. Waneitta loved to cook, bake, dance, play cards, golf, travel and entertain. She especially loved to visit and serve family, friends, relatives and the elderly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; granddaughter, Lisa Henderson; and sister, Virginia Lea.
